Japanese GP: Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen under investigation

Max Verstappen has accused Charles Leclerc ofirresponsible driving and claims that the Ferrari driver warrants a penalty after the group hit the first lap of the Japanese GP.
Verstappen proceeded across the outside of Leclerc and started well out of fifth but the racing line was taken by the Monegasque and shunted into the Red Bull. Verstappen awakened while damage was picked up by Leclerc, but while the Ferrari child finished sixth after a retrieval drive packed with lots of overtaking Verstappen had to retire.
The incident is under investigation, and the two drivers will report to see that the Suzuka stewards at 9am UK time (5pm neighborhood ).
We had a really good start for that was a positive, an angry Verstappen informed Sky F1. And then I only stayed on the outside and suddenly into turn 2, Charles drove into the side of my vehicle.
From my side I do not believe I could have done anything different there. We all know that you drop downforce behind the car so that is not a justification and I think he is experienced enough to know that.
The odd thing is initially they didnt investigate it straight away. My whole car is ruined. The side. There are just holes in the cars side. And they will explore it after the race. What more should he do to have a penalty?
I like tough racing, but I really dont think this was challenging racing, I think that it was irresponsible driving into two. He had a bad start so for sure he was trying to recover places but theres just so much you are able to do. Its a shame it happens.
Leclerc added to Sky F1s Rachel Brookes:I have not seen the entire scenario from the outside… in the vehicle it was only a tricky scenario.
When asked if he anticipated a punishment, the Monegasque replied:I dont have any idea… I want to find the episode.
More to follow…
